December Means Music at Meramec

The Meramec Music Department has scheduled four concerts for December, offering a wide variety of musical offerings and special guest appearances.
They welcome members of Opera Theatre St. Louis to campus for a free recital from noon to 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, Soprano Jennifer Jakob, tenor Joshua Kohl and pianist Nancy Mayo will perform selections from opera and musical theatre, as well as holiday favorites. At 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, the Symphonic Band, conducted by Gary Gackstatter, will perform selections from their upcoming appearance at the Missouri Music Educators Conference and the Jazz Lab Band, under the direction of Bob Boedges, will offer up the best in big band jazz.
At 3 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 12, the music department welcomes the St. Louis Horn Quartet for an intimate concert in Humanities West Building, Rm 102.
At 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13, the Meramec Orchestra, with Gary Gackstatter conducting, and the Meramec Chamber and Concert Choirs, conducted by Dr. Jerry Myers, ring in the holiday season with John Rutter Carols for orchestra and choir and a holiday carol sing-along with the audience.
Unless otherwise noted, all performances are held in the Meramec Theatre and admission is free.
