STLCC-MERAMEC HONORS VETERANS WITH WEEK-LONG ACTIVITIES

October 22, 2009

2008 Flag Raising Ceremony
The 2008 “Raising Old Glory” ceremony was well attended despite a blustery day. The event committee has been asked to present their program at the 2009 MCCA Conference.

In recognition of Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2009, St. Louis Community College-Meramec will display a “Wall  of Honor,” Monday through Friday of that week in the Student Center Commons. This display will serve as an open forum for anyone, including community members, who would like to leave a note of gratitude to those who have served in the United States Military.

On Wednesday, the public is encouraged to attend the ceremony “Raising Old Glory” at 7:45 a.m. in the Circle Dr. at the main entrance to the campus. Meramec students, faculty and staff will be on hand to salute as a group of veterans raises the flag, with musical accompaniment provided by Dr. Jerry Myers, director of the Meramec Choir. A reception will immediately follow in Business Administration Bldg. Rm. 105 (BA105). Refreshments will be served.

At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, the campus will open its “USO Room” in BA105. There will be music, displays, information tables and speakers until 2 p.m.
