Inspired: Exploring the Yixing Sensibility

Shao, who has a studio in Yixing (China), is especially

well-known for her wood referenced trompe l’oeil teapots.

The Meramec Contemporary Art Gallery presents Inspired: Exploring the Yixing Sensibility

Featuring the ceramic work of Junya Shao, this group exhibition will explore how contemporary ceramic artists are informed by the traditional Yixing approach, often inspired by forms and creatures in nature and suggesting ideas of containment.

Contributing artists include: Dan Anderson, Jeri Au, Steve Hilton, Charity Davis-Woodard,Susan Bostwick, Jimmy Liu, Pete Pinnell, Richard Notkin, Pete Halladay, Chris Berti, Gayle Fichtinger, Geo Lastomirsky
