Florissant Valley offered the fourth annual North County Youth Sports and Academic Enrichment Camp from June 8 to 19.
This year the camp enrolled 59 local youth ages 10 to 16. Kids participated in a range of sport and academically enriching activities including swimming, tennis and bocce ball. Participants learned about DNA, produced a commercial at KCFV 89.5, Florissant Valley’s student run radio station, built a bridge in architecture, made medallions in leatherworking, attended workshops on leadership development and much more.
"We are so excited to see so many local kids engaged and more importantly having fun and connecting with our faculty and staff here at the college," said Ken Trzaska, Dean of Continuing Education and Community Engagement.
The camp is financially supported in part by tuition, a grant through the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services, Tennis World, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Whole Foods. The camp is organized and administered through the college’s Florissant Valley Department of Continuing Education and Community Engagement.
