Meramec Faculty members Sue Counte (accounting), Jody Martin De Camilo (biology), Roy Day (foreign language) and Russell Murray (mathematics) all received Excellence Awards from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) on May 27, at the 2009 annual conference in Austin, Texas.

The award recipients were featured in the Excellence Awards booklet distributed to all 1900 participants at the Annual Conference. They also appeared in the always-moving and widely entertaining Excellence Awards video, which was shown for the first time at the end of the Conference before being mailed to every NISOD-member college for future showings on their own campuses. As the session came to a close, all recipients were asked to stand and have their medallions formally hung around their necks.

“I wish to congratulate all the award winners,” said Meramec President Paul Pai. “We are proud of their efforts in teaching excellence.”

Since its inception in 1978, NISOD has emphasized the importance of teaching and leadership excellence in institutions of higher education. NISOD-member colleges may choose to recognize their most outstanding faculty and staff with the NISOD Excellence Award.
