LeAnn Fisher has won the top prize at this year's League for Innovation Student Art Competition. Fisher, a photography major at Meramec, took the First Place award for her untitled 35mm B&W piece. The decision was recently announced at the competition's hosting school, Seattle Community College District.

In total, there were 90 entries from League colleges across the country.

Department Chair, Professor David Hanlon, expressed his admiration for Fisher, the Meramec art faculty and the students in the Fine Arts program: "Faculty in our department strive to deliver a high-caliber, challenging curriculum and are very proud of the accomplishments of our students have made over the past few years. LeAnn's images and the development of her own vision certainly exemplify the best of these endeavors," Hanlon said. Fisher's winning image was created in her fall 2008 Photography 1 class.

A catalog of all entries in the League for Innovation Student Art Competition is currently being produced by Seattle Community College District and will be mailed to all League members this fall.
