The Fifth Annual Meramec Media and Creativity Competition Awards Ceremony, otherwise known as "The Mackies", was held Saturday night, April 25, in the Meramec Student Center. STLCC students welcomed students from Parkway West High School, Lindbergh High School, Maryville University, Southern Illinois University   at Edwardsville, and the University of Missouri        St. Louis into the competition.

Over 100 STLCC students entered this year, submitting more than 150 entries in advertising, logo design, photography, PR pieces, and TV and radio commercials. A record   number of finalists attended.

“The Mackies competition was inspired by the talent and creativity of the students at St. Louis Community College,” explained communications professor Susan Hunt-Bradford, who is the Advertising, Graphic Arts and Media (AGM) Club sponsor and coordinator for the event. “I wanted to honor and recognize these talented individuals and also involve local high schools—our students of tomorrow—and other area college students—many of whom are our graduates—in this event.”

Hunt-Bradford encourages the AGM Club to pick a theme each year. For 2009, it was Hollywood, reflected by a red-carpet entrance, lots of glitter and paparazzi decorations.
