The Meramec Extra Mile Award was presented on April 1, 2009. It is given annually to recognize a St. Louis Community College-Meramec full-time or continuing part-time classified or bargaining unit employee who demonstrates consistent, high-quality job commitment. For 2009, that employee is SCEUC’s Margie Bonney.

“Going the extra mile simply means doing more than you are asked or expected to do,” said Anne Wessely, professional development coordinator for the Meramec campus and advisor to the Extra Mile Award Committee. “Employees like Margie who are so willing to do more than is required of them help make this an excellent educational institution. When someone goes the extra mile, we all learn from their effort and, therefore, it’s important to acknowledge and reward them.”
