The Student Government Association (SGA) of Florissant Valley won the Special Events Award at the Missouri Community College Association (MCCA) Awards Banquet.

SGA received the Special Events trophy for the holiday party they hosted this past December. SGA worked to include the deaf communication studies students and the deaf community. The event was open to the campus and general public, and included activities for children of all ages.

The theme of the MCCA banquet was “what happens in MCCA, stays in MCCA” complete with a Las Vegas motif. Attendees engaged in casino-style games, networked with peers, met their state senator and toured the governor’s mansion.

"The fundamental skills, as well as the interaction amongst fellow community college students was a memorable experience," said SGA president, Dedrick Windom Jr.
