Gilberto Pinela can be seen locally on the Higher Education Channel and as co-host of "The Best of the STL" on WPXS-TV. This self-employed television host/entrepreneur earned an associate degree in mass communications with an emphasis on broadcasting from St. Louis Community College-Forest Park. The first non-native Hispanic in Missouri to host a Spanish language television variety talk show, "Ahora San Luis," Pinela was elected president and later appointed the first executive director of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis. Pinela currently serves on the boards of several organizations, including the United Way of Greater St. Louis, Friends of the Zoo, the Missouri Historical Society, and also is a highly-sought master of ceremonies and speaker in the St. Louis region.
