Campus Bookstores Participate in Missouri Sales Tax Holiday

Take advantage of the Missouri Sales Tax Free Holiday Aug. 1 and 2 at the St. Louis Community College bookstores. 

The sales tax exemption is limited to:

  • Clothing – any article having a taxable value of $100 or less
  • School supplies – not to exceed $50 per purchase
  • Computer software – taxable value of $350 or less
  • Personal computers – not to exceed $3,500
  • Computer peripheral devices – not to exceed $3,500

For a complete listing of items that are tax exempt, consult the Missouri Department of Revenue website.

STLCC employees receive a 10 percent discount on everything except computer and electronic equipment. Employees must show their college ID for the discount.

Textbooks do not officially go on sale until Aug. 11, but the Wildwood bookstore will be accommodating students participating in the Enrollment Open House activities 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2.

Personal computers ordered via the campus bookstore website are not included in the tax holiday. The Missouri state tax portion only will be forgiven on sales transactions at the Florissant Valley and Meramec campuses.

Bookstore hours of operation at the Florissant Valley, Forest Park, Meramec and Wildwood campuses are 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1. Only the Wildwood bookstore will be open Saturday, Aug. 2; hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
