Bushong Receives First Diana L. Kirby Spirit Award

Judy Bushong was presented with the first Diana L. Kirby Spirit Award at the Grogg Award ceremony at the Florissant Valley campus on May 1.
Bushong is the operations and promotions manager for KCFV-FM, Florissant Valley's student radio station. She produces "The Mental Health Happy Hour" a joint venture with the counseling department and "Lucy's Livelihood" on Saturdays from 4 to 8 p.m..
A member of Phi Theta Kappa, Bushong is current treasurer for the Missouri Community Broadcasting Society and program coordinator for the Student Government. She is also active in the Missouri Community College Association and the American Student Association of Community Colleges. Bushong will graduate this fall and plans to pursue a career in media.
Dianna L. Kirby served as general manager for KCFV for 20 years. She passed away suddenly of a heart attack in June 2007. In addition to her duties as station manager, Kirby taught radio production classes. Kirby was heavily involved in the National Broadcasting Society’s honors program and many campus events. She touched many people and had friends in the industry across the country. The Spirit award was established in Kirby’s honor and is given only to the student who most represents her wonderful spirit and outgoing personality.
