STLCC-Florissant Valley and Youth For Understanding Seek Host Families

May 20, 2008

St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley and Youth for Understanding (YFU) are offering area residents the opportunity to host an international student. STLCC-Florissant Valley needs six families to open their homes and hearts to an international student arriving in August 2008.

Upon arrival, the students will live with host families within reasonable commuting distance to the College. Students will take part in all aspects of college life, from attending classes to participating in sports and club activities.

Students in need of host families include:

Isabelle Cadart, a 17year-old female from Paris, France, enjoys art, music, travel and volunteer work. She is open-minded, flexible and a natural leader.

Xin Chen is a 19 year-old male from Foshan, China, who enjoys sports and music. He hopes to learn about the culture and customs of the U.S.

Bee-Inn Han is a 21 year-old female from Gojan-dong, Ansan City, South Korea. She loves music and hopes to one day become a radio producer. Han plays the flute and piano and also likes to sing.

You-Kyung Song, a 22 year-old female, is from Seoul, South Korea. She has an outgoing personality and enjoys dancing and cooking. She also enjoys swimming and organizing volunteer activities.

Andrea Schneider is an 18 year-old female from Settigen, Switzerland. She is a passionate athlete and especially enjoys horseback riding. She plans to pursue a career in sports medicine.

Daan Stolker is a 20 year-old male from Ijmuiden, Netherlands, who enjoys photography and jazz music. He is a civil engineering student and looks forward to studying in the U.S.

Host families will provide room, board, love, guidance and the experience of what everyday life is like in America. All kinds of families are selected to host YFU students. Married couples with or without children, single parents, and singles without children as well as families with teenagers are encouraged to participate as hosts.

Interested families are invited to attend an informational session at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, at the Florissant Valley campus in the Engineering building, Room E293.
