Meramec sophomore center Bill Brandenburg (Kirkwood) has been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Basketball All-America second team.

The 6-7 Brandenburg is only the second Magic player to receive the honor in the last decade and is the only St. Louis area Division II player this season to make the elite squad.

"It really lets me know that I've gotten a lot better from where I started a long time ago," said Brandenburg. "It gives me confidence to go on to another level and make a big impact wherever I go."

The physical post player averaged nearly 16 points and 8 rebounds a game for the 21-11 Meramec squad that advanced to the Region XVI championship game. Brandenburg also was an All-Region XVI and All-Conference first team selection.

He has received interest from NCAA Division I schools such as the University of California-Irvine, Furman, Idaho State University and Florida Gulf Coast University, but has not yet committed for next season.
