Curry Receives NJCAA 2008 Service Award

Ruby Curry, dean of business and human development at St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley, recently received a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) 2008 Service Award.

Curry has served in varying capacities with the NJCAA for the past 18 years. Her tenure began in 1990 as the Region 16 Women's Director. She has chaired the Women's Division I Basketball and Soccer committees and the Men's and Women's Bowling Committee. Curry has also served on the Eligibility, Executive, Championship Events, Districting and Division II Softball committees.

NJCAA Executive Director Wayne Baker admires Curry's dedication through the years.

"Ruby has been a steadfast supporter of two-year college athletics and of the NJCAA. She has served this organization with the utmost professionalism and passion, and I am grateful to her for all that she has done for the NJCAA," Baker said.

Traveling abroad, Curry has represented the NJCAA at the Winter World University Games in Jaca, Spain, and the Women's Division I Basketball All-Star Game in Budapest, Hungary.

Curry was inducted into the NJCAA Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
