March 05, 2008

Cruise Winner

Brentwood Travel recently awarded a cruise to a St. Louis
Community College graduate based on her classroom
performance. Marianne Hessler, customer business
development manager-strategic accounts for Royal Caribbean
International;  Galen Mathews, regional director, Midwest
Royal Caribbean International; Weronika Wrzos, cruise
winner and Travel & Tourism graduate, St. Louis Community
College-Forest Park; Stephanie Turner, CTC, president and
CEO, Brentwood Travel; and Craig Mueller, associate
professor and program coordinator for Travel & Tourism,
STLCC-Forest Park.

Weronika Wrzos, a graduate of the Travel and Tourism program at St. Louis Community College-Forest Park, was awarded a complimentary cruise for two on Royal Caribbean Cruise Line at Brentwood Travel.

The award was based on her high grade-point average and academic performance.

Wrzos, 20, came to the United States from her native region Poland in 2004 through the Cultural Care Au Pair program.  She spent her first year in Boston, and then moved to St. Louis to continue her work in child care.  At that time, she decided to pursue a degree in Travel and Tourism at St. Louis Community College because of her love for seeing other countries and experiencing other cultures.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line made this award available to a top travel student last fall in conjunction with the 50th anniversary celebration of Brentwood Travel, St. Louis’ longest established travel agency.  The agency was founded by Robert and Ruth Lurie.

Stephanie Turner, president and CEO of Brentwood Travel and daughter of Ruth Lurie and the late Robert Lurie, also presented St. Louis Community College with a $10,000 endowed scholarship fund for future travel professionals, in honor of her founding parents.
