MC-Student Center Renovation to Begin Summer 2008

March 26, 2008

Student Center renovation

In the first phase of the Student Center renovation,
the lobby will be given an updated look with a
modern, exposed ceiling.

To provide students, faculty, staff and other members of the Meramec campus community with a comfortable and updated gathering space, while enhancing their educational experience, St. Louis Community College will initiate a multi-phased renovation to the Student Center. The renovation will include an extended bookstore, electronics hub and meeting place with new furnishings and fresh finishes.

To maximize the existing Student Center space, the design team will creatively convert the old meeting room, located in the southwest corner of the space, into a new, open lounge/reading area and Internet nucleus and expand the current dining space. The remaining dining room will be renovated into a more inviting, multi-use venue.

A new meeting room will be located in the northwest corner of the dining room. Other amenities include a display wall for student and faculty artwork, a coffee kiosk and possibly an outdoor patio. Central restrooms also were designed to contextually connect both the lobby and dining area as well as improve circulation.
