Subdistrict 1 candidate -- Melissa Hattman

Melissa Hattman of University City is the director of transfer services and articulation at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.


Hattman, 54, is seeking an elected position for the first time. "I have a passion for higher education and its access for all who seek it," she said. "I believe I can be of service to the St. Louis community as a trustee, sharing my expertise and knowledge in the field of education."


She has been employed by UMSL since 1996. She previously served as director of admissions for Hickey School (now Hickey College). She also served as an admissions representative for the Art Institute of Houston.


Hattman completed the University of Missouri’s President’s Academic Leadership Institute, and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phil National Honor Society. She volunteers for Food Outreach, and has volunteered with the St. Vincent DePaul meals program and was part of the speaker’s bureau for the Women’s Self Help Center of St. Louis.


Hattman will complete her master’s degree in higher education at UMSL in May. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and history from Lamar University. She also holds teaching certification for grades 7-12.
