Purpose

Value to the Children

Throughout the child’s time at the Child Care Center, learning opportunities are provided through the use of books, creative art supplies, blocks, puzzles, music, puppets and a wide range of educational activities in learning centers equipped with appropriate materials for indoor and outdoor learning experiences.

Mixed age grouping facilitates children’s social and cognitive development. Multicultural and anti-bias programming allows children to discover similarities with others and to become aware of the richness of diversity and acceptance.

staff qualifications

One of the areas that set the center apart from many child care facilities is the high standards set for personnel in terms of their qualifications and professional backgrounds. Teachers have a minimum of a four-year degree plus experience; assistant teachers have a minimum of an associate’s degree plus experience in the child care field. STLCC believes that young children deserve the same high quality professional staff to administer their child care programs as that provided for their adult academic programs.

Meals

All snacks and meals are provided by the center at scheduled times for no additional charge. All food is served to instill and encourage healthy eating habits.
