Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame was established in 1997 to honor Meramec student athletes, coaches and contributors who have had distinguished careers in intercollegiate athletics.

    Meramec Athletics 2008 Hall of Fame inductees
    Angie Scharnhorst, Mike Kelley, Juliet Lilledahl Scherer

    Angie Scharnhorst, was a two time softball NJCAA All American. After finishing her career at Meramec, she attended the University of Texas and played in the College World Series.

    Mike Kelley was twice named an NJCAA All American in soccer. He led the 1976 team to the NJCAA National Championship. He went on to SIUE and then a professional soccer career.

    Juliet Lilledahe Scherer, as a member of the Meramec softball team, was an NSCA Academic All American for two years and an NJCAA Academic All American. She played at Bradley University. Juliet is a faculty member at Meramec.

    Linda Meng McQueen, Mr. Donnelly for Glennis, TJ Mathews.

    Linda Meng McQueen starred in field hockey, basketball and softball. She led her softball team to second in the nation earning All Tournament honors. She starred at Missouri State and has coached her HS team to the state title.

    Glennis was a two time NJCAA All American in soccer and a one time All American in softball. This gifted athlete went on to the University of Utah. She is now in law enforcement.

    TJ Mathews starred for Meramec and UNLV. He pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals, Oakland and Houston. TJ was a short relief specialist as a professional.

    Nick Vogt, Eric Lytle, Melanie Flowers-Ruiz

    Eric was a NJCAA All American for the men's basketball squad. After he earned his bachelor's degree, he played professionally in Europe.

    Melanie twice earned NFCA All American honors. She added NJCAA Academic All American honors her second year. She earned her degree from Bradley University.

    Nick finished as national runner-up both years at Meramec. The two time NJCAA All American wrestler went on to earn his degree at McKendree University.

    Mike Barger, Kelli VanHoose-Black, John Ried

    Mike set a school single season record with 40 steals. Known for his enthusiastic approach to the game he earned NJCAA All American honors. He then earned All American honors at St. Louis University. He was drafted and played in the Seattle organization.

    Kelli earned NSCAA All American honors as the stopper for the women's soccer team both years. She moved onto William Woods. She now serves as Director of Athletics for a school in Illinois.

    John earned All District honors pitching for the then Warriors. He transferred to Stanford University and pitched in the College World Series. He was drafted and participated in the Detroit organization.

    Mr. Boehringer for son Brian, Mike Branson, Tim Keane

    Brian was turned into a pitcher at Meramec. He went on to pitch in the World Series for the Yankees and the Padres.

    Mike was a NJCAA All American. He helped lead Southeast Missouri State University to an NCAA tournament appearance. After graduation he played professionally in Europe.

    Tim earned NJCAA All American honors in 1977. He helped lead Meramec to the national soccer title in 1976. Dr. Keane is a professor at St. Louis University.

    Tom Redmond, Sarah Wood, Randy Albrecht

    Tom helped lead Meramec to its first national championship. A stopper, he earned NJCAA All American honors. He went on to compete in the NCAA Final Four representing Indiana University.

    Sarah was the most decorated female athlete in Meramec's history. She earned NJCAA All American and NJCAA Distinguished Academic All American honors. She was awarded the Danforth Scholarship at Washington University.

    Randy has posted over 500  victories at Meramec. Known as a true scholar of the game, he has been elected into the NJCAA Men's Basketball Hall of Fame.

    Scott Stefl, Paul Pilla, Celeste Knierim

    Scott was a two time All American at Meramec and a two time All American at Loras. He won nation wrestling  titles at both institutions.

    Paul earned earned NJCAA All American honors. He set a national record in the pole vault. He went on to set an NCAA record. He is an engineer.

    Celeste retired having the most softball victories (1041) of any coach in NJCAA history. She is a member of several Hall of Fames.

    Kevin Missey, Joseph Meives, Jeff Karl

    Kevin, an NJCAA All American, led Meramec to its first national championship in any sport. His coach described him as the most talented soccer player he ever had.

    Joe was a stalwart for Meramec under Coach Mimlitz. The All Region performer was a team leader. He led the then Warriors in scoring in his sport of basketball. Mimlitz considers him the best he coached at Meramec.

    Jeff led Meramec to NJCAA titles in 1991 and 1992. He has the most wins in  women's soccer in NJCAA history. He earned NJCAA Coach of the Year honors on two occasions.

    Vicki Schneider, Jack Writer, Elizabeth Cullen-Vorbeck

    Vickie starred in basketball and softball. She went on to play professional softball. She owns and operates the St. Louis Batting Cage.

    Jack led the men's soccer team to the school's first NJCAA championship in 1972. He went on to coach at Cornell University. He then moved into administration of athletics.

    Liz was the premiere sprinter in the NJCAA winning the national championship in the 50. She earned NJCAA Swimmer of the Year honors.

    Bill Shadburne, Maureen Fritz, Mr. Hausladen for son Bob

    Bill coached both the men's and women's swimming & diving teams. He produced numerous NJCAA All Americans included the NJCAA Female Athlete of the Year.

    Maureen pitched with perfection. She led her Meramec squad to a second place finish in nationals in 1978. She is a two time NJCAA All American.

    Bob was the ultimate pitcher for Coach Lessmann. He was a two time NJCAA All American.

    Ron Mirikitani, Jack Mimlitz, David Mirikitani

    Ron has the most wins of any wrestling coach in NJCAA history. He is in numerous Hall of Fames including the NJCAA Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame.

    Jack served as Meramec's first men's basketball coach. He set the foundation for the program that has been one of Meramec's best right from the beginning.

    David is a two time NJCAA All American wrestler. He concurrently was a full time student at Meramec and Washington University. NJCAA Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame.

    Robert Murrey, Brooke Breer, Ric Lessmann

    Bob served as the architect of the Meramec intercollegiate program. He served as the first Director of Athletics.

    Brooke led Meramec to two NJCAA national championships. She twice earned NJCAA All American honors in women's soccer. She was Indiana University women's soccer player of the year.

    Ric was the Dean of community college baseball in Missouri. He led the squad to the 1974 NJCAA National Championship. He is in the NJCAA Baseball Hall of Fame. He went on to coach at Washington University.
