Vincent J. Bommarito
Vincent Bommarito owns and manages St. Louis’ famed five-diamond Tony’s Restaurant in downtown St. Louis. Now located in the Equitable Building at Market and Broadway along with Anthony’s Restaurant and Bar, the restaurant has been a St. Louis legend since 1946.
Bommarito has been active as a member of the Advisory Committee for the Hospitality Studies program at STLCC-Forest Park. Realizing that the nationally-recognized program was badly in need of expanded facilities, he spearheaded, along with other leaders in the hospitality industry, a drive to raise $1.1 million in private donations in addition to funding from the state of Missouri. The Jack E. Miller Hospitality Studies Center, with its high-tech labs, kitchens and community meeting rooms, was dedicated in November 1999.
Bommarito helped start the Downtown St. Louis Business District in the early 1980s. In June 1999, he received the Levee Stone Award from Downtown St. Louis. The inscription reads, "Legendary host and restaurateur, a tenacious advocate for a better downtown who taught us that a positive streetscape based on good design, landscaping and maintenance is vital to a successful urban environment."
Bommarito and his wife, Martha, have five children. Three sons are in the family restaurant business.
