Ruth M. Lewis

Ruth Lewis has been successful in two distinctly different careers -- educator and business professional. She holds a master’s degree in education with an emphasis in counseling and was a professor of counseling for nearly 30 years at STLCC-Forest Park until she retired in 1999. She now devotes full time to her business. She and her husband are co-owners of two Hallmark Card shops in north St. Louis County.

In addition to serving on the STLCC Foundation Board, Lewis continues her service to STLCC as a representative on the Non-Certificated Employees Retirement Plan Committee, a position to which she was appointed by the college's Board of Trustees.

Lewis is active in many community service organizations, including the YWCA’s Academy of Leaders, Forest Park Forever, the St. Louis Forum, the National Association of Women Business Owners, the Minority Business Council, the Girl Scouts and Faith House. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Scholarship Foundation, the Girl Scouts, United Way of St. Louis, and the St. Louis Arts and Education Council.  She was named 2002 Woman of Achievement by the Suburban Journals and was a Zonta Club 2002 Yellow Rose Award winner.

Lewis and her husband, Floyd, live in Frontenac.
