Melanie A. Adams
Melanie Adams is the community education and resource center program manager for the Missouri Historical Society. Her professional career also includes working in student affairs, serving as executive director of educational non-profit organizations and being an independent consultant.
Adams is active in the community. She is the secretary of the Black Leadership Roundtable, an organization created more than 15 years ago to improve the region for African Americans. She also is secretary of FOCUS St. Louis, an organization dedicated to leadership development, community engagement and policy initiatives. She is a graduate of the Women in Leadership program of CORO and the Leadership St. Louis program of FOCUS St. Louis. She also serves as board member of Americorps St. Louis.
Adams earned a bachelor's degree in English/African American studies from the University of Virginia and a master's degree in higher education and student affairs administration from the University of Vermont. She has taught and worked at Washington University, the University of California-Berkeley and California State University-Northridge.
