Debra HollingsworthDebbie Hollingsworth is vice president for external affairs at SBC Missouri. She is in charge of charitable giving at the telecommunications company, which is one of the largest employers in the St. Louis area. She also is chief of staff for Cindy Brinkley, SBC Missouri's president, based in St. Louis. In that role, she advises the executive on issues regarding community development and public policy.
A native of Raton, N.M., Hollingsworth joined the company in 1979 in Texas as a management trainee in technical telecommunications work. In 1988, she moved to St. Louis, where she started taking an interest in community-related projects and regulatory issues affecting the telecommunications industry. That interest led her to her current job.
She is a member of the FOCUS St. Louis Board of Directors, the St. Louis Minority Business Council, the Opera Theater of St. Louis, the March of Dimes and Parkway Education. She also serves on the Chancellor’s Council of the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and on the Regional Chamber and Growth Association (RCGA) Business Service Committee. She is a member of the United Way Allocation Panel, the Variety Club of St. Louis Allocation Committee, and the Missouri Governor’s Business Roundtable.
Hollingsworth earned a master’s degree from Webster University in St. Louis. She is a graduate of West Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism.
