STLCC Professional Development Mission Statement

STLCC Professional Development inspires and empowers our community of staff and faculty with a diverse set of engaging, innovative programs which provide the knowledge and skills needed to foster student success.

St. Louis Community College is committed to promoting professional growth of faculty and staff members at all levels, offering programs and activities to encourage best practices in teaching, learning and operations. The Professional Development Council (PDC) coordinates the districtwide efforts described within this section. You may learn more about each program by clicking on the links to the left.

The PDC has created a series of certificate programs for various employee groups to expand job knowledge and skills and to inspire a feeling that our multi-campus district is "one college." In 2007 the council received an Institutional Merit Award from the National Council for Staff, Program and Organizational Development for this set of five certificate programs. The council strives to maintain a balance between districtwide offerings and programs that serve the particular needs of each campus.

Campus needs are met through a range of professional development activities offered by the Centers for Teaching and Learning (CTL). Each campus has a faculty member who serves as the CTL coordinator.

STLCC uses a comprehensive, multi-layered approach to provide professional development for its nearly 1,500 full-time and more than 1,800 part-time employees. The PDC works to prepare STLCC employees to expand minds and change lives every day.
