Professional Development

St. Louis Community College is committed to promoting professional growth of staff members at all levels, offering Programs and activities to encourage best practices in teaching, learning and operations. The Staff Development Council coordinates the College-wide efforts described below. In addition, each location provides a range of staff development activities.

Leadership/Management Certificate Program 

Training for staff serving in or preparing for administrative, management or supervisory positions in the College.

Classified Development Certificate Program

This eight-module program for Classified Staff addresses a variety of topics including work styles, communication skills, customer service, writing skills, workplace ethics, and goal setting.  Each 2.5-hour module has been designed to provide classified staff with knowledge and skills to increase their effectiveness at work.

Adjunct Faculty Certificate Program

A new program which reflects the College's commitment to quality instruction in all courses by developing the teaching and learning skills of adjunct faculty members. 

Essential Technology Skills Certificate Program

A new program available to all STLCC employees, which will provide basic skills in several computer related areas.

Instructional Skills Workshops

An experience in instructional development and feedback, open to both full-time and part-time faculty.

New Faculty Orientation

A program welcoming new faculty with a week of activities focused on the institution and on our teaching and learning mission. Orientation activities on campus continue into the Spring semester.

New Employee Orientation

Each month new employees meet to learn about the institution they have recently joined.
