Instructions

  • Allow Java/ActiveX content ("Allow Blocked Content") for this page!
  • Login is now automatic (no password!). You'll get 5 minutes of camera control starting from when the page has completely loaded or when you manually login, unless someone else has control at the time. If someone else does have control, you can still watch the video without having control of the camera.
  • There are 10 presets. To get around quickly, we recommend you use the presets. The delay in the video (see "More Information" below) when using the pan, tilt, zoom and focus controls can be confusing. If you get lost, just click a preset button.
  • NEW - It matters where you click on the triangle-shaped areas. The tips (darker areas) make the most difference, and the bases (lighter colored areas) make the least difference. In other words, the tips make a coarse adjustment, the centers make a medium adjustment, and the bases make a fine adjustment.
  • NEW - Auto-Tour: When you click the "ON" button, you will start Auto-Tour mode. This will loop through all the presets, stopping for 15 seconds on each one, and stay in this mode until the "OFF" button is clicked. When you are done with Auto-Tour PLEASE click the "OFF" button. If you are trying to control the camera but it seems to be acting on its own every 15 seconds, someone has left it in Auto-Tour mode! Click the "OFF" button to stop it.
  • NEW - AutoFocus: When you click on the AutoFocus button, the camera will focus itself (it will return to manual focus after about 5 seconds). If you aren't satisfied with the result, click it again, or try changing the camera angle slightly before autofocussing again, or try manual focus.
  • NEW - Zoom now has fine/medium/coarse control (as pan and tilt always have had).

More Information

  • Due to the delays of encoding, transmitting, buffering and serving live motion video on the Internet, the live video you are viewing is delayed, usually by at least 10 seconds. The delay can sometimes be 30 seconds or more, so please be patient.
  • There are two time-out limits: a 5-minute time-out on the control session (to allow as many people as possible to enjoy controlling the camera), and a 15-minute time-out on the live video stream session (to help us stay within our maximum streaming bandwidth).
  • When your control time runs out, the 'Status' field will read "<<<LOGIN to Start Control Session" and it will indicate "not connected" when you try to control the camera. Just click the "Login" button to request another 5 minutes (the Status field will then read "Available Time: 5 Minutes").
  • When your video time runs out, either reload the page or right-click on the video and select "play/stop" to restart the video stream and play for another 15 minutes. Note that if you reload the page you will also re-login to the camera controller.
  • The changing P=/T=/Z= numbers in the Status field are positive confirmation (from the camera) that you have changed the camera's Pan, Tilt and Zoom settings (and to where!). The Pan range is from -170 (left) to +170 (right) degrees from the center, the Tilt range is approximately from +30 (above) to -90 (below) degrees from the horizon, and the zoom range is from 1x (full wide angle) to 18x (full telephoto).
  • The pan/zoom/tilt/focus/preset buttons affect only the camera; the microphone is stationary and always "wide angle."
  • Manual Focus is a fine-increment control. You may want to start with an AutoFocus and fine-tune it from that point.
  • On most browsers, you can right-click on the video (to get a context-sensitive menu) and choose zoom/fullscreen to view the video full screen.
  • For positive confirmation of login, you can click "Close" immediately followed by "Login." If you do this and the status field reads "Available Time: 5 Minutes" then you have control (and your 5 minutes starts at that moment); if it reads "Connecting to CamMotion..." then someone else has control (please try again later).
