This course critiques the roles, uses and messages of photographs and other visual images. By exploring the ways in which we gather and interpret information from a variety of sources to form mental constructs, this course is valuable to anyone with a desire to further their skills in critical perception. Students will examine artistic and journalistic photographs, advertising, film, television, and other media images as forces affecting twentieth and twenty-first century thought. Prerequisite: Reading Proficiency.
