PHLEBOTOMY

This training program prepares the student for entry level employment as a phlebotomist. The course provides classroom, lab instruction and clinical experience. The 120 hours of clinical experience is in addition to scheduled class time. Course content includes basic anatomy pertinent to blood collection, as well as communication skills, specimen processing, related interdisciplinary tasks, lab experience of blood drawing techniques and practical experience of blood drawing techniques in the clinical setting. A strict attendance policy is enforced throughout this training.

Forensics: Fact Or Fiction

Forensic scientists do amazing things when you see them on TV, but how much of what we see is fact? Explore the principles of forensic science used by law enforcement agencies. Course includes hands-on laboratory experience designed for the 'non-scientist.' Topics cover forensic drug chemistry, forensic biology, DNA analysis, blood testing, and blood pattern analysis. Writing, Publishing, And Promoting Your Non-Fiction Book

If you really want to write a non-fiction book, here's your chance to get started. This course follows two tracks simultaneously. One teaches the fundamentals of getting organized, planning, writing, publishing, and promotion. At the end of six weeks, you will be able to apply this process to any non-fiction book you write in the future. The other track guides you through planning your own book by writing a book proposal. Bring a notebook and pen (or laptop). Workbook and CD included. FEE $89

UPDATES ON CARDIAC PHARMACOLOGY

This course is designed to update registered nurses on the mechanics of drug action and appropriate nursing management for the safe administration of cardiovascular drugs. Cardiac anatomy and physiology will be reviewed to include cardiac cycle, ECG and SNS effect on the cardiac system. Cardiac medications will be presented in terms of classification of action, effect on the cardiac and vascular systems. Appropriate nursing assessment and interventions will be discussed in relation to intended response to cardiac medications as well as possible side effects.
