Basic Computer Skills 1:
This course is for the beginning computer user. Learn the basics of a computer from how to turn the computer on to identifying the components of the computer.
Basic Computer Skills 2:
This course is a review of the information provided in Basic Computer
Skills 1 with additional information as well an overview of uses of a computer.
Computer Safety:
Learn how to safeguard your home computer from viruses and spyware. Learn to reduce the spam that comes through your e-mail and develop safe passwords.
How to Use a Laptop:
Learn how to use a laptop. Learn about the different features of a laptop and what components you want to consider if you are buying one. Learn what
Wi-Fi is and how to connect your laptop. Learn how to locate a Wi-Fi 'hotspot' so that you can connect to the Internet. Proper maintenance of a laptop will also be covered. A flash drive is given to each participant of this course. The flash drive will contain a copy of the course materials and will be used to store the class practice exercises.
Introduction to the Internet and E-mail:
The class will start with a basic overview of the Internet. Learn what a search engine is, how to choose the right search engine for your needs, how to setup an e-mail account and choose the best e-mail provider.
Introduction to Microsoft Word:
The basic concepts of word processing will be covered. Learn how to open, create and save documents in Microsoft Word.
Introduction to Microsoft Excel:
The basic concepts of a spreadsheet and why they are used will be covered. Learn how to open, create and save simple spreadsheets with Microsoft Excel.
Introduction to Google:
This course will introduce the user to all the products that Google has to offer. Learn how to setup a Gmail account, how to search efficiently for what you're looking for and more.
Introduction to Facebook:
Learn to stay connected to family and friends using Facebook. Learn to setup your own Facebook page, find friends, import photos and much more.
Introduction to Craigslist:
Learn the history of craigslist; how to setup an account and what categories are available. Learn how to purchase an item and how to place items for sale.
Putting your digital photo's online:
Learn how to transfer your photos safely from your camera to your computer. A number of photo storage sites will be discussed with hints to help you decide which site is best for your needs. Learn how to share your online photos with friends and family.
Social Networking for the Professional:
Learn where to find the best online sites to assist in your job search. Learn sites to help further your career or helping you to get back to work.
Missouri Online Job Assistance:
This class is designed to introduce new tools to assist in a job search. Learn what online resources are available in St. Louis and throughout Missouri.
