Adult Education and Literacy

The Office of Continuing Education, St. Louis Community College-Meramec offers the Adult Education and Literacy program funded by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This program has two main facets.

The first, Adult Basic Education, offers preparation to take the Missouri Test of High School Equivalence and remedial work in subjects such as mathematics, reading and writing skills.

The second, English as a Second Language, is designed to improve the English language skills of recent immigrants to the United States or other non-native speakers.

Also, a new program, GED Online, provides the opportunity for students who cannot attend class to do the majority of their studying online.

Classes are free. Students must be 16 year of age or older. 16 and 17 year olds are required to bring a letter signed by the principal or superintendent of the school they last attended indicating they are no longer enrolled and granting permission to attend Adult Education and Literacy classes.

Further, information can be obtained by calling 314-984-7777 or 314-984-7805 or e-mail stlccconed@stlcc.edu.
