CRFT:718 Shibori Dyeing for Crafters and Quilters10/10-10/31

Shibori dyeing is an ancient technique that literally means "shaped-resist dyeing." The shaping process leaves areas undyed that become patterns when the cloth is dyed. Rather than treating cloth as a two-dimensional flat surface, shibori techniques give it a three dimensional form by folding, crumpling, stitching, plaiting, or plucking and twisting. A cloth may be dyed repeatedly using a different shaping method each time. In this class we will make a total of 6 yards of cotton fabric in shibori patterns. Perfect for stash building or plan your color choices for a special project. We will learn many stitched and folded shibori techniques as well as vat dyeing and dye removal. Supplies included in the cost of the class. Bring ziplock bags, rubber gloves and an old towel to class. Dress to work with dye. Cost for adults 60 and over $97.00.
