Marcia Pfeiffer, Ph.D., was named president of the Florissant Valley campus of St. Louis Community College in December 2002, after serving as interim president the previous 11 months. 

Pfeiffer joined the Florissant Valley staff in 1980 as a faculty member, and then served as department chair from 1986 to 1993. While serving as the district's Tech Prep coordinator for three years, she was responsible for founding the St. Louis Area Tech Prep Consortium. She served as associate dean for business and human development for four years, and as executive dean for two years. 

Under Pfeiffer's leadership, the Emerson Center for Engineering and Manufacturing was constructed and opened, and the Florissant Valley campus was selected for the Gateway to College replication project.  

Pfeiffer is a member of the Missouri Biotechnology Association Board of Directors and serves as the secretary of the MoBIO Board Executive Committee. She is the immediate past chair of Missouri Community College Association Presidents and Chancellors' Council. She serves on the Nerinx Hall High School Board of Directors, North County Inc., and the North Star District of the Boy Scouts. 

Pfeiffer earned her doctorate in education leadership and policy studies from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and has bachelor’s and master's degrees from Kansas State University. She attended the 2001 Management and Leadership in Education program at Harvard University. Pfeiffer is a registered and licensed dietitian.
