Thomas Klincar

Thomas Klincar was appointed president of John Wood Community College (Quincy, Ill.) in August 2008.

Prior to his appointment at JWCC, Klincar spent 28 years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a full colonel in July 2008. His prior positions included service as the commander of the USAF’s College for Enlisted Professional Military Education (2007-08); and commandant of the Community College of the Air Force (2005-07).

Klincar is a past board member and treasurer of the National Asian Pacific Islander Council of the American Association of Community Colleges. He has made frequent presentations and speeches throughout the world and United States.

Klincar’s service memberships include the Executive Committee and Eagle Scout Board of Review for the Boy Scouts of America’s Mississippi Valley Council, Workforce Investment Area 14 Board, the Quincy Chamber of Commerce, the Presidents’ Council of the Illinois Community College Board, Rotary International, the Exchange Club and the American Legion.

Klincar’s doctorate in literature and language arts is from De La Salle University (Manila). He holds a master’s degree in systems management from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
