Professional Development

Workshops that are sure to increase your knowledge in digital media and help to increase profits. From converting photos to paintings, to e-publishing, to animation, to app's for artists, and websites made easy, workshops are designed to jump-start your professional skills.

   

adobe Digital publishing for mobile devices, ipad's and Magazines

The Adobe Digital Publishing Suite software is a turnkey set of hosted services and viewer technology that tightly integrates with Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 software products. Using the Digital Publishing Suite, professional publishers can design and deploy engaging reading experiences across mobile devices and marketplaces. This release of the Digital Publishing Suite supports creation, preview and sharing of digital magazines
like WIRED Reader, The New Yorker, iGizmo and Sabado Bicentenario on the Apple iPad through an Adobe branded viewer.

Use your own iPad or an iPad2 will be provided for student use.

Apple's Soundtrack Pro and Garage Band

Take command of the audio in your film and video projects, as well as rich media projects. Learn how to clean up recordings, polish voiceovers, customize music and sound effects, and do much more. Explore Apple’s Soundtrack Pro and GarageBand basic set up and common uses. Students will learn how to create fades in and out and cross dissolves, apply effects, use the built in mixer, loops and sound beds. Record external sounds and learn how to create loops in video and audio. Also, learn how to mix down and export out of Soundtrack Pro and GarageBand to integrate with Final Cut Pro.

Learn how to register a domain name, and use free web site tools and templates to create and maintain a professional website. Aimed at businesses, professional photographers, graphic artists, and others with small staffing/resources to help develop a professional website that can add to their marketing efforts with minimal cost.

EZ Professional websites-the next step

Picking up right where the First Step left off, learn about website usability and how to improve visitors use of your website. Increase traffic to your website with search engine optimization, using keywords, copy and images techniques. Learn how to register your website with search engines and directories to improve visibility. Learn what’s going on with your website, and how to track, measure, and collect and use information to increase profits with website analytics. Learn all about plug-ins and how to use them.

EZ mobile websites for professionals

This class will focus on the building and management of a professional website for all mobile devices. Students will learn what goes into a good mobile website and how to promote and integrate their website with Facebook and other social media sites.

Note: This class covers the basics of creating pages and content for mobile devices. It is recommended that students take EZ Professional Websites-The First Step as a foundation for this course.

How To Convert Photos to Paintings

From conception to printing by using Photoshop, this workshop will give students step-by-step instructions on how to convert images or photography into a painting, suitable for printing and framing. This course is aimed at business professional photographers, graphic artists and hobbyists who want to learn how to convert photos to painting.

Note: Basic working knowledge of Photoshop recommended.

How To Print Images on Fabric

Learn how to convert your own images, logos, or photos for reproduction on fabric. For workshop purposes, we will not print larger than 8.5" x 11" sizes. Each participant will make and take home a finished project. Participants are requested to bring their own images and t-shirts, canvas bags or fabric onto which they will heat transfer their finished image. The professional equipment, software and transfer paper will be supplied by DATA. We will be using Illustrator, a vector imaging program.

Express yourself with impressive sketches like a pencil on a real paper with the Live Sketch app. Create your own sculpture just by tapping the screen using PHYZIOS Sculptor app. Learn how to create typography art and unique watermarks using the TypeDrawing app. Or doodle, draw on photos or paint a masterpiece and then e-mail your paintings as layered PSD files to transfer your work to the desktop using with the Layers Pro app.

SKETCHUP FOR PROFESSIONALS

Three-dimensional models are essential if you're in the design field. With SketchUp students will learn the basics of 3 D modeling. It's the perfect tool for the beginners as well as professional designers, filmmakers, game developers, architectural, civic, mechanical engineers, and related
professions. This program is available for anyone designing anything from frying pans to cathedrals. Basic proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop will be helpful for this workshop
