Digital Arts and Technology Alliance (DATA) - Center for Visual Technology

A component of DATA, the Center for Visual Technology (CVT) provides professional level facilities, hardware and software for use by students and faculty to learn the latest techniques and develop the skills required for professional digital media.

CVT occupies space within the Art Department on the Meramec campus. Two labs and two classrooms provide a physical space with high-end, latest version hardware and software oriented to creation of visual materials.

CVT equipment includes:

  • High performance Mac or Windows graphics computers
    • 24 & 27 in. monitors
    • 6x8 in. Wacom Intuos digital graphics tablets
  • High-resolution film and flat art scanners
  • Color laser printers
  • Large format (24-44 in.), color ink jet printers
  • A variety of digital cameras
  • Professional grade video cameras
  • Apple iPads
  • MacBook laptop computers
  • Professional software including
    • Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection

      • Illustrator

      • Dreamweaver
      • Bridge

Digital media courses taught by the highly regarded Art faculty and the DATA Workshops are held in CVT classrooms. CVT labs provide opportunities for students to continue their classroom work and are open days, evenings and weekends, when the College is open.

The close association with the art department provides hand, visual and technology skills taught in the same building, allowing students a greater realization of the cross-disciplinary benefits that can be incorporated into imaging design.
