Shelly Ethridge joined the STLCC staff in 2009 as women's head basketball coach at Meramec, and has been the head coach since the program transitioned into a districtwide format in 2011. In her five seasons with STLCC, Ethridge has compiled a record of 94-48, and has led her teams to the NCAA Women's Division II Tournaments three times. The three-season run to the national tournament has featured three straight 20-win campaigns, including a record 25 straight victories in 2010-11.
During the 2012-13 campaign, Ethridge's Archers rallied to upset North Arkansas Community College in the District P playoff game to advance to the national tournament. The Archers then defeated Chesapeake Community College for the first national tournament victory during Ethridge's tenure.
Ethridge previously served as head coach of the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's team, leading the squad to its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2000. She compiled seven straight winning seasons in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. She also coached at Belleville Area College (now Southwestern Illinois College) and twice was named the Great Rivers Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. In 14 seasons as a college coach, Ethridge has a career record of 246-141.
Ethridge was a four-year starter at Eastern Illinois University, and participated in the 1990 NCAA Tournament and the 1991 U.S. Olympic Festival. Ethridge is a member of the Mater Dei High School Hall of Fame, and was an all-state selection in basketball. She holds a master's degree in education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She earned her bachelor's degree in physical education from Eastern Illinois University.
