Post 9-11 GI Bill

The Post-9/11 GI Bill provides financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service after Sept. 10, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

Benefits include:

  • Tuition and Fees: Up to 100 percent of applicable tuition and fees charged on a semester basis. This money is paid directly to the school.
  • Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH): BAH rates are set at the E-5 plus dependents level for the zip code of the school which, for STLCC, is $1203.00. The funds are directly deposited into your account on the first of each month.
  • Book Stipend: Each student is authorized up to $1000 per year for books. The VA will pay you $41.67 per registered credit hour. Funds are also direct deposited into your account.

The benefits listed above have different payment rates based upon your registration.

Recipients of benefits under Chapters 30, 1607 and 1606 must verify school attendance to the VA on or after the last day of each month in order to receive funds. Attendance verification can be done through the VA’s Web Automated Verification of Enrollment (WAVE) system or by calling 1-800-877-823-2378.
